Using its recycling processes, SNAM produces metal cadmium as ingots. The purity of the cadmium varies according to customer specifications. It can go from 99.95% (3N5) to 99.9995% (5N+).
Use:
Cadmium from SNAM's recycling is mainly used in the manufacture of new Nickel-Cadmium batteries. It can be used in the production of pigments to obtain colours from yellow to red. Thanks to its chemical properties, it can be used to protect metals against corrosion. Cadmium is very pure in the form of cadmium telluride (CdTe), which can be used in the make up of thin layer photovoltaic cells.
