A regulatory framework
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is an international commercial organization of air transport companies.
This association was founded in Havana, Cuba in April 1945, and its HQ is located in Montreal.
IATA's main activity is to simplify invoicing between airlines and travel agents (BSP) or freight forwarders/agents (CASS).
IATA has been managing the global listing of airports and airlines since 1967.
It plays an increasing role in preparing the regulations for shipping dangerous goods and publishes the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, a document globally recognized by airlines.
